Now obviously when it comes to me hosting anything, I’m going to make food that I can eat, makes sense, right? You can expect when you come to my house, mostly everything will be gluten-free. I also try to cater to any guests I’m having over (allergy, or food issues).
We had some friends over yesterday for the Pats vs. Texans game (PS – I think Houston Texans is one of the most foolish names for a sports team in the history of silly “lazy” names, they really couldn’t think of anything else?? – very original fellas). One of my friends children has food allergies (severe) and I know what it was like as a kid and adult to go places & not being able to eat a thing & then people feeling bad & making a big deal, thus make you even more ostracized & if you’re like me & don’t like a lot of attention, this can make you want to leave anywhere pretty quickly.
Here’s what I did first to get into the mood, I drew a flying Elvis (the Patriots logo, I miss the old Pat the Patriot personally) on our chalkboard in the kitchen.
One of the reasons I love Pinterest (if you haven’t checked it out, do, or don’t, because you may become addicted like me), but I really do like it, because I can create a “board” for a specific event, or Holiday, or idea. (no list hung on the wall, wasted paper, etc.) I started my Football party board, keeping myself & MG in mind, which meant pinning recipes 1, fit for football party consumption (easy to grab, throw on plate, shove in mouth; enjoy); 2, gluten-free; 3, egg, dairy & nut free as well.

The recipes above are not mine, here they are broken down:
Greek Salad Skewers (click HERE for link to recipe) (this 1 was not dairy free & I put on separate table, so that MG would know it was not safe) (this recipe is slightly labor intensive, simply because of the olives, having to pit them), but so worth it, because they came out so pretty. I didn’t have Za’atar, didn’t know where to find it, so I doused the skewers with fresh organic oregano. (I also put TJ’s Greek Feta dressing in the middle for dipping) Out of love, I left 1 portion without olives (my husband can’t stand them).
Slow Cooker BBQ Pulled Chicken (I substituted amber beer with Gluten-Free Redbridge beer), recipe click HERE. (I used Kraft BBQ Sauce which is both gluten-free & allergen friendly) This was served with bakery rolls (potato rolls – ironically not safe for me, they did have gluten in them, but they were dairy, egg & nut free) You would think potato rolls would be safe, always read your labels!
Gluten-Free Hot Soft Pretzel, recipe click HERE. If you have a chance to make these, do it!! I loved them, not sure if everyone at the party did, but this is the kind of treat you really miss when you can’t have gluten & go to a game; football, baseball, you know stadium food. Nom, Nom, Nom; I’m not kidding. This recipe is also Vegan, dairy, egg & even nut free. Yay!
Parmesan Truffle Fries, obviously the Parmesan not okay for a dairy allergy, so I made 2 batches 1 with the parmesan & 1 without (cooked on separate baking sheets on separate racks in the oven) I personally really liked the mix of russet & sweet potatoes. Recipe click HERE.
The last thing I made was my famous (thank you Aunt Margie for the original recipe) Shoyu (soy-glazed) Chicken wings. These are always a party favorite, and were both gluten-free & allergen friendly. I am sorry I cannot divulge this recipe as easy as it is, I just can’t bear to do it; maybe some day.
